Goulais River – The Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry is investigating as several nets full of dead fish were reportedly pulled from Goulais Bay this week.
A ministry spokesperson said an investigation is underway, but would not provide any other details about the incident.
“It’s an active investigation,” said Jolanta Kowalski, senior media relations officer.
A resident of Goulais River contacted SooToday and provided photos that show the nets being pulled from the water by MNR staff.
The resident, who asked not to be named, said he saw one net “loaded with rotting fish” including lake sturgeon retrieved from the water today.
